Alberta's Provincial Government has ended co-pays for publicly funded spaces!
Many clients do not feel the need to pursue inpatient residential treatment, or what is commonly referred to as rehab. However many clients do chose to attend treatment and get great benefits from it. Often addiction started out with childhood trauma. Other times we feel so out of control that we need a chance to catch ourselves and think more clearly about where we are and who we want to be. Inpatient treatment gives a person the chance to think about what is going on in their lives with clarity and support. It also allows the development of tools that can help us turn away from challenging situations.
Private inpatient treatment can be unaffordable for many of us. Below is a list of publicly subsidized treatment providers. Keep in mind that research shows that for opioid addiction, talk treatment without medication actually increases a person's risk of overdose death. This increased risk is because if they have a slip after detoxing, they will have lost their tolerance to the drug. We strongly urge anyone looking for treatment to consult a physician about medication options.
